Can I also use the SIKUControl electronic trailer series (items 6780, 6781 and 6782) with a radio remote-controlled tractor?
Yes. Radio remote-controlled tractors also have a connection at the rear for the cable connection with trailers. Trailers receive steering data, as usual, from the tractor via a data transfer cable.
Can I also operate tractors with infrared technology using a radio remote-controlled hand-set?
No, because two different transmission methods are involved here. A model based on infrared technology cannot be operated using a radio remote-controlled device and vice versa. However, all models in the SIKUControl32 "radio-controlled" series can be operated using a single radio remote-controlled device.
Why are there two different SIKUControl 32 systems "radio controlled" and "infrared controlled"? What is the difference?
In 2004, SIKU developed remote-controlled models for the "infrared controlled" series and launched them on the market. These models operate using infrared technology as the transmission mode. Communication between the model and remote-control device works via a pre-set channel integrated into the model which can be called up using the remote-control hand-set. Up to four different models can be operated using one remote-control device. Functions such as proportional steering and manoeuvring, an electronic trailer coupling device, lights and indicators are integrated into tractor models. The price is approx. €90 to €120 for a set consisting of tractor, remote-control device, charger and battery: the models offer excellent value for money and a cost-effective way to start collecting SIKU remote-controlled models. Extending the SIKUControl32 series with the addition of truck models, we identified how the early infrared technology no longer fulfilled existing model requirements. In 2007, we therefore converted to what was then state-of-the-art 2.4 GHz radio-controlled technology. This high-end system electronics facilitated the operation of an unlimited quantity of radio remote-controlled SIKU models from only one remote-controlled device. In addition to the previously outlined functionality - per model - a variety of extra functions were integrated. The MAN with low-loader (item 6721), e.g. has a low-loader that can be powered spearately from the tower machine, and support struts and loading ramp are height-adjustable using the remote control device. Operating these models is child's play due to the wide reach of the remote-control device (up to 20m). Thanks to high-end radio technology and a variety of functions and easy-to-use models, the SIKU radio-controlled series offers remote-controlled functionality with great value play. Prices start from €160 and this series is a premier segment in the SIKUControl32 series.
